I have visited Gali's in Haymarket a few times and happened across this site whilst getting the number, planning to go back for pre-night out dinner. I always find it well-priced, tasty and the service is friendly (Italian servers). If you want good food and good service at a good price it ticks the boxes.

I've been there a few months ago. So-so food and service is not very nice. Not recommended!

I had the misfortune of visiting this restaurant in January 2010. I have never written a complaint about a restaurant before, but felt I had to about this one.

We ordered soup of the day (vegetable) and two main meals. The soup had obviously come from a tin and was doused in salt - completely inedible. It was served with bread which was covered in black mould. I pointed out the bread to the waitress who simply said - 'oh', and replaced it with different bread.

I couldn't eat anything after that (the main again looked like it came from a supermarket box) and my boyfriend felt the same way. The bill came anyway with no apology or regret for the terrible food. To be avoided at all costs!

I visited Edinburgh in December 2008 and spent my time twice at Gali's Italian Restaurant. The meals are very delicious and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I would therefore recommend that you must-see this restaurant.

5 of us went here yesterday and all started off very well. We had some garlic bread to start which was very nice along with a tasty bottle of house red. However, although relatively tasty, the mains were very much lacking in quantity (wouldn't really have fed a child!). It then took 30 minutes to clear the plates after finishing and a further 30 minutes to bring a dessert menu (there were 3 waiters and only 9 occupied tables so we were at a loss what the delay was).

It then took a further 30 minutes to take our dessert order - at which point we declined and went to Mcdonalds for a Mcflurry. In summary the food was ok but they really need to sort out their quantities and speed of service.
