I went here for lunch a couple of months ago as I was interested to see what the refurb would be like (Ivory Lounge used to be Bar 38 for those who didn't know).

My partner and I both went for burgers which were nothing special but tasted fine. With a couple of soft drinks and coffees thrown in we both paid just over a tenner each - pretty reasonable prices for the restaurant's location.

I haven't been here for drinks since the refurb (mainly because the previous Bar 38's crowd included hairdressers, stag/hen parties and George Street wannabes). I have also recently been assured that the aforementioned crowd still haven't changed so I doubt I will pop in for drinks anytime soon.

Nevertheless, for a quick bite to eat I would consider going back to the Ivory Lounge.

We went there last night (wednesday) for work Christmas dinner.

Service was really poor, I had to go to the bar to get myself water and we only got the included wine after the starters. I had to ask about three times.

For starter I had Crayfish and Hot Salmon paté the came with a poor slice of cheap white bread, school cantine like. Asked for more but there was not. The paté itself was fine.

For mains I had the festive turkey. It was slices with really little gravy and again service was really bad because the potatoes arrived well before the mains and the vegetables (carrots, broccoli and sprouts) arrived well after. So I ate cold potatoes and had my veggies after my meat...

The house red wine was quite nice but the white win was a poor Chardonnay.

The music was really loud so you had to shout to speak. I could not hear myself think.

At last the dessert was a Brownie served with a tiny amount of ice cream so really dry.

I will never go ever again.
