Monsoon is a gem of an Indian takeaway which offers some unusual dishes tucked away among the usual fare. Offerings such as the very special Tandoori Murgh Mossalam (tandoor chicken cooked on the bone and served in a minced lamb mossala sauce with fresh herbs and spices) lift this takeaway above the many 'samey' Indian takeaways in the area. As the menu says "If you haven't tried this yet, do yourself a favour now"!

Edited: I have been using Monsoon for over three years now and I can safely say that I have never had a bad dish or a bad experience. The staff are always polite, service is fast and the food is as tasty as can be. I can't believe that the person below had such a nasty experience! Every time I have called in an order the person answering the call has been nice as pie and the food has arrived very quickly, so quickly that I usually tip the delivery guy fairly generously, and the food is always piping hot and amazing.

I can't comment on the menu range because I have a favourite order I place over and over again, but I've always found food quality good and, unusual among India takeaways I find, reliable. The food is the same each day of the week regardless of who is cooking, where other similar businesses seemed to serve the same meal mild some days and medium to hot others.

I usually place my order at peak times (Friday/Saturday nights) and am warned to wait up to 45 minutes but it rarely takes anywhere near that long for deliveries to arrive. Phone and collect is very reliable also, can be ready in about 20 minutes on peak nights, always get the correct order and food arrives hot whether delivered or pre-ordered collection. I've become a regular here over the years, abandoning my previous regular because of the more reliable hot arrival of food. Half a star lost because the naans can sometimes be too crispy for me and because there is no way to online order with them, they aren't signed up with any of the online order people as far as I can work out. Wheelchair access would be nice for me too.

Street parking directly outside.

I'm quite surprised to see that someone has had such a bad experience with Monsoon as every single time we've went there for food (or ordered by telephone), the staff have always been very friendly and polite.

It's a small place that's nestled amongst several other takeaways in Granton, but with it being the only Indian one (that we know of) we decided to give it a go. Once the initial amusement of the 'engrish' menu had worn off, we were pleased to see that it wasn't your usual tired selection of korma, bhuna, rogan josh and vindaloos. Monsoon has a large selection of speciality dishes which range from the relatively mild (but incredibly tasty) Green Herb one to the seriously firey South Indian Garlic Chilli one. Versatility is provided by the fact that you can choose to have each dish with chicken, lamb, prawn or vegetable. They're all cooked from fresh and the portions are pleasingly large, too. Special mention has to go to the Tandoori Murgh Mossalam dish as it is simply incredible. You get large chunks of beautifully tasty tandoori chicken (still on the bone) dunked in a herby minced lamb 'mosalla' sauce... It's almost criminally delicious.

Home delivery is quick, their prices are generally average for an Indian takeaway and their food is excellent. They also have a full range of starters, snacks and naan breads.

Pretty damn good.

Main course was absolutely disgusting. Meat was the cheapest that could be sourced (if it was meat) and definitely was not cooked.

Initially thought this was a great place with great food but have completely changed my mind after 3 home deliveries. Definitely just in the business for money and have no effort of working towards promoting good food or quality.

I called this takeaway and was informed my meal would take 30 mins to be delivered. 45mins later the shop called me to confirm my card details even though I had asked them to repeat them to me. As it was now 10.35 in the evening I asked that my order be cancelled as I was informed that they hadn't started cooking it yet. Whoever I was speaking to at the time then called me a stupid Bl***y Cow & hung the phone up. After calling them back and saying that was not good business practice they hung up on me again. Funny perhaps, but I was already an existing customer! Needless to say 'Monsoon' will lose all of my business and any of my contact's business.

I eat here once a week. My pal comes from the town centre to get a curry here. Huge portions - the vegetarian meal for one is plenty for two. Highly recommended.

I've tried lots of different Indian takeaways across town and this one is the best. The vegetarian meal for 1 is enough for 2, and the meal for 2 is legendary. It all tastes great and the nan bread is lovely.

I had placed an order for delivery (Monsoon Delivery Service) at around 9.40pm. But there was no food delivered at all. I was not able to contact the restaurant as nobody were picking up the call (I kept ringing from 22.30 to 23.00).

Frustrating as I was very hungry and there was no food. As the time passed 11pm, I couldn't eat anything that night.

Please try any other takeaway than this one. I really did have a very bad and irresponsible experience with this takeaway/delivery service.

I am still using this takeaway after 3 years and have always found it to be great. I get the vegetarian special for 1 and it's so big it lasts me for a few days. The king prawn dishes are packed full of prawns, unlike curries from most other places. I can't recommend it highly enough.

The food is always a really tasty mix of different flavours and textures. The taste is better than before. All dishes were amazing.
