Absolutely terrific!

Had stopped by the bar for a pint on occasion but had never eaten there so while drifting down the Royal Mile on a day off and lunch called, it was an easy decision when compared to the theme chains round about.

Lovely little dining area, managed to snag the table in the window right at the back, wasn't sure about the seating but turned out very comfortable so all good so far!

The menu had a good range dishes from light to not so light and while it wasn't a huge selection, there really was something for everyone and you'd have to be dead fussy not to find something taking your fancy.

Chicken Balmoral was awesome, scampi and chips was just how scampi and chips should be, no skimping on any of the portions and although it was a squeeze, having seen other tables get the cranachan, it just had to be done and was absolutely delicious.

So if you're in the High Street; looking for a good, hearty, delicicious, well priced meal; in a nice place; served by nice people - you won't go wrong here.

I love going to Albanach and have recommended to many. Friendly bar with a great atmosphere and a smaller but perfect dining area at the back. Great for couples or for larger parties and great views down Cockburn St too. Food is brilliant. Soup comes in huge bowls, sausages vary daily and interesting ingredients. The burgers are not stodgetastic at all, good homemade burgers and try them with the pepper sauce, amazing. And for dessert the banoffee pie is gorgeous. The one downside, I have been at the weekend and turned away cause they are always sooo busy.

My son and I ate at the Albanach last week while visiting Edinburgh on vacation. I haven't stopped thinking about the Mull of Kintyre Pasta (basically an upscale Mac N Cheese) ever since! Although we went back twice just so that I could have that pasta dish, I am now back in California, and having withdrawals! Recipe anyone?! Excellent service, excellent FOOD!

I would highly recommend not missing this jewel!
