Been here a couple of times and always great food. The portions are huge - too big infact so you don't need a starter! Pizza's delicious, cooked infront of you, pasta dishes also a winner. Last time I was here we had Brushetta to share (although it was just one big piece of bread) and I had pizza and sister had the filo parcels. She got too parcels and again, too much on the plate to eat. Service is fine. Gets busy at the weekend lunch so if a larger group you should book. If it's sunny that you can take a seat outside, views to the Pentlands although it is on the main road.

Myself and my husband went tonight.

The starter was fine - quite tasty Zucchini Fritters could have done with a bigger portion. The main of slow cooked lamb shank lacked flavour. My husband's chicken and duck saltibocca was not warm enough. The pommes berriechone lacked depth and flavour and it was all chopped to an inch of its life. The red velvet cake was lovely the size was good but the sticky toffee pudding was not sticky but buttery and watery.

The seats were too close together. The staff need training as nobody asked us how our evening was going or if the food was fine.

Ror the price of £63.00 for two with wine you would think the quality of food would be better. Perhaps a new chef would be in order as well as staff training as you have too many different ones during your service.

We will not be going back there.

We had been meaning to eat there for ages so we booked a table. Exterior is really nice and on arival we were greated in a nice manner but felt the atmosphere... let's say there wasn't one. We were sat inbetween 2 sets of 2 and were forced to hear about their son's garage extention they needed to get planning for... riveting convo for a Friday night. We had our order taken by a different waiter who wasn't the greatest pillar of communication. Anyway, we ordered the goats cheese bruschetta and I had the gratin Arbroath smokie... to be fair the starters were not too bad. For mains we both oredered the brie filo parcels as they sounded amazing but to our dismay this was not the case... very very bland and each plate had two dollops of tinned plum tomatoes... I have eaten in many restaurants - top end and bottom ones - and the only time I have experienced tinned tomatoes served in anyway was with spagetti and cheap breakfasts at tesco's. When we had only taken a few bites and put our cutlery together the plates were whisked away with even a question to ask why so much had been left. We had to wait 5 minutes for the bill and a further 5 for the machine to pay by card... also picked up by another waiter. Again no questions to ask if we enjoyed our evening and meal. Answer would have been complete disappointment which the waiter may have sensed. This is the first time I have felt the need to do one of these reviews but if it can save someone of their hard earned £40.65 in this current financial climate then I do feel obliged to do so.

To summarise we won't be going back and recommend you don't put yourself in the position where you have the choice.

So I live near Tusitala and it would be handy if it was even an average pizza joint. Sadly over 4 years we (family of 4) have been there 3 times and after every time vow never again - this time we mean it. The service this time was slightly better than the previous times, but still poor, the food however is absolutely dreadful. I had a simple pasta in tomato and basil and at £7.50 you'd expect something as simple as this to be half decent, but when it arrived and I saw it was made with dried basil the alarm bells rang. They would be better to just use a jar of sauce from a supermarket as it was terrible - maybe it was from a jar. My wife had a filo pastry in a tomato sauce and felt ill after a few mouthfuls - the so-called sauce consisted of whole tinned tomatoes that must have been heated briefly with vinegar and sugar and then thickened with arrowroot. When we complained about the food, the waitress told us "well you've eaten some" and "other people like it". Couldn't be bothered kicking a fuss but will this time stick to our guns and no more chances. Lastly the toilets are absolutely disgusting.

We live locally and so went here on a Saturday night to celebrate with our family. I had the Samoan Chicken skewer which was great big lumps of chicken stuck with the odd pepper and onion (£15). The 'coconut rice' was really bad, the flavour was not good and had the consistency of rice pudding. My husband had overcooked fish. Luckily the rest of the party stuck with the fish and chips and I think that was ok. What a disapointment. Maybe they should stick to pizza? But then I would choose an Italian... will never go back.

Great place, my wife and myself visit regularly, they offer a good range of great food - I recommend The Tusitala pizza, but you can have anything here (as we have) and it's all great - excellent service too.

My firm (Housing Association) took some of our customers there recently as a thank you for all their work over the past year, and were provided a great buffet which suited the palates and the pocket. Well worth a visit anytime.

We simply pulled in where we had the luxury of ample car parking space, a table outside on a beautiful evening with views right up the pentland hills. I had a spezia rusticana pizza... huge! On a wooden board with spicy meats and mascapone. My partner had a morish gigot of lamb. Flavoured like you wouldn't believe. I'll be spending some more summer evenings up here. Good value, great surroundings and staff not afraid to have a chat.

We visited several times and enjoyed sitting outside on the decking - the food is on the good side of average and the coffee is good. You can't sit outside if it's windy though, and the atmosphere in the restaurant is not relaxing. At least the horrendous smell from the gents between the bar and the restaurant has been addressed, so I am told.

Wow!!! went here for lunch for the 1st time. I had the Moroccan chicken skewers, served with rice and salad, Fab! Husband had the fire and smoke wood-fired pizza, he wasn't saying much as he was too busy munching. Great value for money, nice and friendly staff. So with the two meals plus a portion of chips, (DH says he can't have pizza without them) pint of lager and 2 irn bru. All for £23... What else could we ask for... Will be going back for dinner in the near future...

Have used this place before for a couple of business meetings. The place looks alluring from the outside, but soon disappoints upon entry...

There is a horrible 'sports bar' adjoined to the restaurant, something which adds to the general lack of coherence that the whole place suffers from. Anyone you arrange to meet usually winds up in this bar, which is frankly an embarrassment. Staff in the sports bar are uninterested and glaikit. Staff in the main restaurant are pleasant enough, but pretty clueless (trouble with the till on previous visit too - with other staff not really sorting the problem for the poor waitress having the problem) and there's a general attitude of complacency. Don't waste your time and money at this place: it's simply not worth it.

We recently visited Tusitala for the first time since moving to the area. It was a rainy day but the views were outstanding and the atmosphere inside was very comfortable. My wife and I had a steak, she had the fillet and asparagus and I the traditional rib eye, if you find a better steak in town let me know. Outstanding.

The staff were really friendly and nothing was too much trouble. They even suggested a wine to match. A refreshing change from chain pubs in the area. Well done.

Every time I have been the food has been great, the service first class and the staff friendly and pleasant. The atmosphere is relaxing and surroundings suit a modern restaurant of this type. Please if you are ever thinking about coming to Tusitala for the first time I would high recommend it. I would also say and with all honestly, ignore any bad reviews, I have been loads of times over the past several years and I have never had a bad experience with either the food or the staff.
